I know it’s trendy to fight the system and cry that we are all becoming slaves of technology, but this attitude overlooks that computers and phones are tools for communicating. When someone thinks I’m an idiot smiling at a machine, I’m actually smiling at my girlfriend who is 10000 miles away and whom I would have never met if not for these newfangled electronics. As they say: when the wise man points to the moon, the fool looks at the finger.
This is a topic that I’ve been wanting to tackle for a while now; much credit to this excellent post for bringing it to the front of my brain.
WANT. I wish this was in stores omg that’s so stupid
YOOOO I FOUND IT ONLINE HERE
As always, tumblr is quick to take an easy way out instead of actually trying to lose weight with, I don’t know, some fucking exercise? Get off tumblr and your fat ass
Fuck you, maybe they’ve tried everything. This can actually some people who have struggled to see results, and referring to someone as having a “fat ass” is not okay whatsoever.
I was sitting on sea ice when I heard a little peep over my shoulder.
Artémis when she was young and candid
i keep getting random erections today and idk why
I guess you could say it’s been a hard day.
Put this together in anticipation for Banned Books Week! All of these quotes are from actual challenges I found online.
SPEAK GLORIFIES PREMARITAL SEX DID YOU EVEN READ THE BOOK OH MY GOD I WILL PUNCH MY WAY THROUGH A MOUNTAIN
TO KILL A FUCKING MOCKINGBIRD ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!?!
"Deals with homosexuality" grow the fuck up you homophobic asshole and deal with it.
Kite Runner has nothing to do with religion and the only few damn times religious content came up was when the characters prayed for safety or when Amir prayed that Sohrab would be okay and live from his suicide attempt.
Oh. OH. Crank is the book that is banned huh? Out of all the books by Ellen Hopkins -some of which have pretty much everything that the other banned ones were banned for- of course Crank was the most likely candidate, even though it’s pretty tame compared to any of her other books!
Banned books have always pissed me off. Books like these can be banned, but not freaking 50 Shades which has actually caused some people to accidentally kill their spouses and also promotes a Stockholm relationship.
hello 911? yes so this person had a really good url and they haven’t been active since 2010.

This just brought me to tears in two fucking seconds and I usually fight so hard to keep this kind of meltdown from happening.
I hate when people say that Internet-based long distance relationships aren’t real relationships.
You people don’t know anything.
You don’t understand the lack of judgement that comes with stumbling across someone online. The fear that comes with hoping that someone as perfect as this can exist. The incredible joy you feel when they prove that they do.
You’ve never come to rely on someone so much that they become the only ones who can understand why you’re so upset. You’ve never experienced such a deep yearning for someone else’s touch, that it can leave you shaking and unable to breathe at night, and the only thing that can calm you is the sound of their voice.
I can only hope that one day, I can be as lucky as these two people and get the opportunity to be able to have this moment… When I can step off a plane and see him waiting for me with my favorite flowers, and I can leap into his arms and smash them against his chest and not even care, because he’d be there with me.. And he’d be all mine.
This fucking photo set always gets me. I’m just hoping with everything I have that nothing else goes wrong and May hurries up.
If it wasn’t for the internet I never would have met my fiance. We lived over 960 miles apart from one another and there is no way we ever would have found one another because I was raised so differently from her.
But, thanks to the web I did. And we’ve been together almost six years now. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m so happy to have her in my life. I’m one lucky son’of’a’gun. Long distance internet relationships can work, if you are willing to make them. It can seem hard at first, and yes people will put it down and say its not a “real relationship” but I assure you it is, and some day you can show them that.
PS: Running into the arms of someone you love for the first time at the airport…its worth it. so worth it.
Essex social services obtained a High Court order against the woman that allowed her to be forcibly sedated and her child to be taken from her womb.
The council said it was acting in the best interests of the woman, an Italian who was in Britain on a work trip, because she had suffered a mental breakdown.
If you are not absolutely terrified and outraged by this you are wrong. The precedent this sets put every person on earth in danger.
oh my god read the article this is FUCKING HORRIFIC. she got back on her bipolar disorder medication and is in recovery but they won’t give her her child back “because of the risk she might relapse”. What you’re fucking saying with that is that mentally ill people shouldn’t even be allowed children even if they’re safe and well *just in case*, that we’re a permanent threat to ourselves and others even when we’re in treatment and recovery and living a stable life. I am FUCKING LIVID
Over a fucking panic attack. I’m fucking serious, all of this over a single panic attack. They took her baby in the most horrific way possible because she had a fucking panic attack.
From the Article:
She suffered a panic attack, which her relations believe was due to her failure to take regular medication for an existing bipolar condition.
It’s worth noting, that it’s very common for people on psychiatric medication to go off of their meds if they become pregnant, because of risk of side effects.
I bolded the above. I wanted there to be no one to think that she was being irresponsible for not haven taken her meds regularly. She did it for good reason, for the health of her own baby. And she got punished for it.
i fucking cant
So she did what was best for her kid, has ONE SINGLE PANIC ATTACK WHICH IS A THING THAT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE WHETHER THEY HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS OR NOT and decide that they can literally violate her body in a horrific manner and take her kid away. But she’s the dangerous one.
Terribly sad. I hope this gets worked out in her benefit.
I can’t even imagine how terrifyingly awful that situation had to have been. Forcing a woman, against her will, to undergo sedation and then waking up in pain, without the fetus you’ve been carrying for 9 months? That’s beyond the pale. How much do the rights of an unborn fetus circumvent the rights of a full-grown adult? How much do we have to other the mentally ill, treating them (us) as less than human? She was literally treated like a breeding animal, with no cause of concern for her safety, mental health or well-being. Fuck. Fuck.
This is literally the stuff that horror movies are made of.
When K was relating this story to me, I couldn’t believe it until I read the article for myself. Have we really gotten to the point that a woman who, even just from the stress of being pregnant, has a panic attack can legally have her baby ripped out of her body and be thrown into a mental institution? Did we slip back into the 19th century, because I don’t recall any horse-drawn buggies going by outside.
This is why we need mental health reform. This is why we need women’s rights. This is why we need to treat fellow humans like fucking humans, not livestock to be cast aside when they seem a little “off.”
The world just got a little more terrifying for those of us with mental illness.
Welp fuck, there goes my chances of having a baby ever. I get panic attacks, hormones will probably set off more panic attacks during pregnancy.
This is completely unreal. I can’t anymore, you don’t fucking force someone to give up their child like that, for something so little something that wouldn’t even hurt the child.
Obviously it wasn’t enough stress to induce labor, at that far along if there is enough stress the baby will come.
This has gone to far. Pregnant women no longer have any rights.
It’s kind of weird, from my end at least, to see that this happened in the UK, but I don’t know what the norm is there for that sort of thing.
Well allow me to add insight to the matter, by providing an article by the same source presented. In that same article piece it recounts the information collected and states thusly:
Based on the facts of the case the Court believed there was a risk to the unborn child and had to take steps to protect the child from harm. Such draconian steps are only taken by the Court if there is no other alternative, especially when it comes to children. As a society we must act in the best interest of the child and the Court of Protection, although many of you may not agree with its closed proceedings, is there to ensure that this interest is protected.
The right of anonymity is fundamental to child protection and closed proceedings are necessary when the interest of the child is paramount. Last week, Peaches Geldof inadvertently disclosed the identities of the co-defendants in the Ian Watkins case which could still lead to the identification of the child victims. The inadvertent disclosure shows how easy it is to forget about the right of the child if we get distracted by other issues.
The same can be said about this case.
The mother of the child has the right to challenge the adoption process and put forward her case but that does not mean the forced caesarean section she underwent was unnecessary. The steps taken to date by Essex Council have been to promote the welfare of the child and it will be for the Court to decide whether the mother can be reunited with her baby.
So the reason for such measure was taken was because the court did so out of concern for the child. A draconian measure, I’ll admit, but allowing an unborn child to be left at the fate of the mother, who suffered a possible bi-polar attack and was being unruly to local enforcements, is, in a word, unthinkable with regards to the laws of autonomy and child rights.
It also does not help matters that it involves two nations: Italy and the UK, with regards to the measures done, since both countries have different laws and procedures.
If one should have a history of clinical bi-polar or such mental conditions, and is thinking about having a child, it is best to ask your local doctor or practitioner of what meds are safe to be used whilst in pregnancy, so that way your health, along with other essentials for raising a child, are not thrown into disarray.
Dude most bi-polar medication contains lithium.
Any serious medication will say it’s dangerous to take while pregnant.
This was a violation of a woman’s body, discrimination against mental health, and completely unorthodox.
PLENTY of bi-polar women have had children, and there is literally no excuse they can have to keep this woman for having her child given back to her.
Well apart from medication, I would think there are probably also essential steps to ensure raising a child without losing risk of sanity, especially in this case when it involved local law enforcement, in which she was being a danger to both herself and the child.
I’m pretty sure that what I italicized was what was covered during that court hearing (especially competing the comparative between her and the child, both by the laws of autonomy). In regard’s to women’s rights, those claims would be validated (and they probably were). But because of the facts stated, the court had to rule for her since she was unable to do so.
I am only assuming, and that’s all I can do. I just hope that she can prove her case and get her child back. As you said it best, there should (or would) be no excuse for it.
This isn’t just women’s rights.
This is mental health rights.
And that is a really serious issue.
Also, I might add, there really isn’t much one can do for their mental stability during prengancy, mentally ill or not. Pregnant women have panic attacks and mental breakdowns all the time. They are chemically imbalanced, and if they are mentally ill even more so because they can’t take the medication for it.
Bi-polar is a serious condition and it takes EXTENSIVE calculation and it can’t be treated without so heavy duty medications. But bi-polar people can live and survive just fine if they are under treatment, and this women clearly was.
Relapse happens under high stress or through a change of chemical balance (Change in medication, for example)
Honestly, what these people did put her more at risk of a relapse than they would have if they just let her have her child. They are destroying this woman’s life over something that is honestly very common and she IS getting help.
I also hope she gets her child back because this is just an awful thing to treat someone with a mental illness like she’s not allowed to be a human being or have children.
6. Favourite Fighting Type
